
Originally from Australia, David studied at the
Flinders Street School of Music (Adelaide) with Diana Harris. At the
age of 18, he graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Performance) and
an Advanced Diploma of Music (Accompanying). He was recognised
nationally for his outstanding achievements during study and for
being the youngest B.Mus graduate in Australia. He is now based in
London, UK and a freelance accompanist & opera répétiteur.
As a répétiteur David has worked with, John Owen-Edwards (Gilbert &
Sullivan Company), Fraser Goulding (The Opera School Wales, Swansea
City Opera), Martin Merry (Opera Osuna, Seville), Stephen Barlow
(State Opera of South Australia), Paul McCreesh (Music in the round,
Sheffield), Kent Nagano (ABC Classics), Michael Lloyd (British Youth
Opera), Peter Robinson (State Opera of South Australia, BYO &
Raymond Gubbay Ltd – Albert Hall, English Touring Opera as MD for
the education project, ICE (nominated for a Royal Philharmonic
Society Award), The Minotaur Music Theatre Company as MD for the New
English Version of The Barber of Seville and English National Opera
(Baylis & Opera Works Programme).
His recital work includes Deborah Norman
(soprano), Donald Maxwell (Baritone), Daniel Parkin (Flute), Sarah
Fox (soprano), Roland Wood (Baritone), Sylvia O’Brien (soprano),
Joshua Ellicot (tenor), & ‘The Sirens’, with performances in St
John’s Smith Square (London), Chichester, Buxton & Wexford
Festivals, National Concert Hall (Dublin), Oxford Lieder Festival,
Florence (Italy), Seville (Spain) as well as accompanist to ‘Voiceworks’
(Adelaide) in Stuttgart, Wroclaw & Warsaw. David has recently
returned from Australia where he gave broadcasts for ABC Classic FM
and at the Festival & Conference of Accompanists.
David is a Britten-Pears young artist, a Yehudi Menuhin Live Music
Now artist and a member of the Lost Chord Project. He is also in
demand to work with children of all ages and abilities across the UK
giving concerts and workshops, as well as performing to sufferers of
Dementia and Alzheimer’s.
His educational projects have been
broadcast by BBC Radio Scotland and the ABC Classic FM in Australia.
